How to set up a Google Business Profile.
A free listing that shows your business on Google Search and Maps. Here is how to set it up properly, step by step.
1. Sign in and start.
Go to business.google.com and sign in with the Google account you want to manage the listing with. Use a shared business account if more than one person will run it, so the listing does not depend on one person’s login.
2. Add the basics.
Enter your business name exactly as customers know it, then choose the category that best describes what you do. Add your address if customers visit you, or your service area if you travel to them. Add your phone number, website and opening hours. Keep these details accurate and consistent with your website.
3. Verify the listing.
Google needs to confirm that you control the business before the listing goes live. Verification options depend on your business and location, and can include a postcard with a code, a phone call or an email. Follow the steps shown and allow time for the code to arrive.
4. Add photos.
Listings with clear photos of the outside of the premises, the inside, your products or your work give customers more reason to choose you. Use bright, sharp images and update them when things change.
5. Reply to reviews.
Thank people for good reviews and reply politely to criticism. Potential customers read the replies as well as the ratings, so keep every reply calm, specific and helpful.
6. Keep it current.
Update your hours for holidays, post news or offers, and check the listing every month. A profile that is kept up to date tends to earn more trust than one that is set up once and forgotten.
